Every once in a while we get on a subway that isn't packed. Really! It's empty enough for us to sit! Amazing! Anyhow, during those rare moments, we occasionally see what you're about to see: Korean men going from cart to cart selling stuff, like superglue and stain removers and Christmas carols. We always found this to be cool, and finally we have it on camera. Unfortunately, our Korean isn't all too fluent, so the subtitles we put for this video are probably going to be a little bit off. At least we tried! We're trying to keep up with all of those people on YouTube Korea who have a boatload of subscribers interested in Korean Subs. Giocat Cat Café

Next to Bucheon, we really love the Hongdae area. It's got so many cool places that we'd have to make a new blog dedicated to it. Today, we want to introduce you to Giocat in Hongdae, which is a cat café. Yes. It is a café full of cats. You order a drink, and then you can play with all of the cats you want. Eat Your Kimchi on iTunes

We realize that there are a lot of people who are more interested in just watching our videos instead of reading what we have to say. We don't blame them. And so, to make something more accessible for our audience, we have made an Eatyourkimchi.com podcast, available for free through iTunes, or anywhere else you'd like to view it. You can subscribe to it so that - every time we update - your iTunes will automatically download the video. Hooray technology! Or, if you're not a fan of iTunes, but still want nothing but the videos, we made an iTunes independent video feed as well, just for you. Bucheon Aiins World Acrobats

To begin with, we have to make a quick apology to people who comment on our site: due to some spammers, we had to close off anonymous comment posting. We had to delete around 20 messages in one hour, so comments are only open to people with Google IDs now. Again, sorry.

Anyhow, on with this post: when we were walking through Aiins World in Bucheon we stumbled upon an acrobatics show. We were impressed by how strong the acrobats were, sure, but we were a little put off as well. First of all, within the span of fifteen minutes we saw three or four jokes where one acrobat would pretend to lose his step and get hit in the groin. What was more odd was how small child volunteers were used as props. Maybe it's our parental instincts hitting in, but we were pretty worried for them. As you'll see in this video, it looks like the girl was crying on stage. That kind of put us off the show, so we left soon afterwards. Check the video out and tell us what you think. Korean Kit Kat Bars

So here's a video that you're surely not going to benefit from, unless you're our brother-in-law Mark, and you ever plan on going to Bucheon, Korea. We were looking for candy at the supermarket and found a bag of what we thought were Kit Kat bars. We were sorely mistaken. What, in fact, we thought were Kit Kat bars were something that is surely an illegally copied version of Kit Kats, with the same layout and logo and colors and all. We know that this isn't just a Korean mistranslation of it, because right beside these bars we found an actual package of authentic Kit Kats. This is something that you have to see to believe. Sure this doesn't sound very interesting...yet...when we opened the package there was an entirely different logo printed on the bar itself. What was printed on it? Korean Public Gyms

Here are a few things Korea (or just Bucheon) has a lot of: corn in their meals, new cars, buildings with different stores on different floors, small dogs, energetic old people. Here are a few things Korea does not have a lot of: obedience for traffic laws, bread that isn't very sweet, macaroni and cheese, overweight people. It's this last item on the list that we want to talk about. See, we're a little surprised. Korean Food is packed with carbs. There's rice-aplenty, patisserie shops everywhere, and uncomfortably sweet bread that should fall under the category of cake instead. It doesn't really make sense, then, that Korean people are rarely obese. They're not all ripplingly fit either, mind you, but Koreans tend to be in better shape than Canadians from what we've seen.

So what's their secret, you ask? Korean Public Gyms is our best guess. If you walk through any park you'll find a bunch of exercise equipment, instead of jungle gyms or swingsets. Feel like doing squats? How about some bench presses? Want to run on the elliptical machine? No problem! Korean parks have it all, so you have all the more reason to lose a few pounds. We videotaped these amazing parks, because we're constantly surprised when we find that the machines are constantly in use. It could just be a part of Korean Culture to constantly be active, and to stay in shape, but - whatever it is - it seems to be working. Korean Couple Shirts

Oh, you thought we were cheesy before. You would make fun of us for our pet names and public displays of affection. Well, you wouldn’t be saying that in Korea. Here, public displays of affection have taken on an all new level. Indeed, people don’t kiss each other or give piggy backs as much in Korea as we did in Canada. Instead, they display their affection with matching shirts, also known as Korean Couple Shirts. We saw these shirts on other people and began hunting for similar shirts instantly. Lubber Gruvs (I mean, Rubber Gloves)

It’d be great if we knew how to read Korean: Martina wanted rubber gloves for cleaning around the house. We went to Home Plus to buy some rubber gloves. When we got home, we realized that the package was just for a single-serving of rubber glove. So we went back to buy another package. Then we got two rubber gloves, but both for the right hand. Fantastic.
