And here is day 3 of Martina's Trip to Jeju Island. In it, you'll finally start to see what makes Jeju Island so famous: it's utterly overwhelming beauty. Sure, the first two days showed you a lot of the fun stuff of the island, but now you'll see the waterfalls and coastlines that put the first two days to shame. As well, you'll see a traditional folk Museum and, for some reason, an orange display. Yes. A display of Jeju's Oranges. They're great, sure, but good enough to have their own display? Who knows. Ok, guys - I suppose you know that Cheju-do has long been a honeymoon destination. However, a coupla more interesting bits. The local horses are supposedly Genghis Khan's spare horses - when the Mongols took over Korea, they put a bunch on Cheju for breeding etc, so those are possibly the purest of the original Mongol ponies. Second, sometime in the late 60s or early 70s, when Korea was still quite poor and Cheju really poor, some Irish nuns came to the island, wondering how to help the locals, and decided sheep were the answer. So they taught people how to make sheep cheese and Irish fishermen's cable knit sweaters. Don't know if you can still get Cheju-do sweaters, but I've got a couple still around - really fine sweaters.
